Ressentiment
I will probably be writing on this subject off and on for the next two weeks or so, so I thought it suitable to introduce it tonight. Though I discussed it yesterday, now I am back in chapter 1 to review the entire book.
So far, it seems that this book is largely a response to Nietzsche’s use of the term ressentiment. In pages 27-31, which I have been studying tonight, Scheler is introducing the term, and describing how such a state can be reached.

Moral Solidarity
For my philosophy class, we have been reading a book called Ressentiment, by Max Scheler. I was reading a couple of pages today, from 115-116, wherein I found the ideas quite fascinating.
The book speaks of moral solidarity for Christians. That is, moral responsibility is not just limited to oneself, but there is such a thing as common guilt, as well as sharing in the moral merits of others, especially the saints. This is best illustrated in our belief that in Adam, all have sinned... [Read More]

Essays on Existential...
I wrote a philosophy paper a week and a half ago, consisting of three essays about existential phenomenology. The essays were on the following:
- The importance of the body and how it allows us to live in the world.
- What freedom is, and why it is more than just having options.
- What intersubjectivity is in relation to existential phenomenology, and a discussion about the three modes of accompaniment.
I just received the paper back on Friday, October 9, and received an A (29/3... [Read More]

Living Religion...
Today was a rather lazy day. It was pretty chilly outside, rainy, windy, and all around not very nice. It made me not want to do very much.
But of course I had philosophy this morning, and as usual, that was an amazing class. We talked a bit about justice, which really wasn’t anything special, and then started talking about religion and metaphysics.
Apparently before the modern period of philosophy (about the 16th century and onward), it didn’t really discuss religion very much. I suppose... [Read More]

Relaxing, Socializing,...
My weekend was rather unproductive, though I am not too worried since my class schedule is not too rigorous. Hopefully I can actually study more during the week.
I just needed to catch up on rest and relaxation this weekend and actually socialize a bit, which I certainly did.
Yesterday I went over with a friend to play the piano a bit. There’s this lounge that has a really nice baby grand piano, which is relatively in good shape, at least a lot better than the piano in the dorm. So I went... [Read More]

I've printed off what you've written above. I'm aware of it from previous. Rather than "redefine" I prefer the word "focus" or "further focus." Today full...

Essays on Existential Phenomenology
John,
I do believe there is more a basis than just the Catechism, for then why would it be in the Catechism? This is the best I can do so far.
Romans 5:12-19 (NAB)
