Ressentiment
I will probably be writing on this subject off and on for the next two weeks or so, so I thought it suitable to introduce it tonight. Though I discussed it yesterday, now I am back in chapter 1 to review the entire book.
So far, it seems that this book is largely a response to Nietzsche’s use of the term ressentiment. In pages 27-31, which I have been studying tonight, Scheler is introducing the term, and describing how such a state can be reached.

For my philosophy class, we have been reading a book called Ressentiment, by Max Scheler. I was reading a couple of pages today, from 115-116, wherein I found the ideas quite fascinating.
The book speaks of moral solidarity for Christians. That is, moral responsibility is not just limited to oneself, but there is such a thing as common guilt, as well as sharing in the moral merits of others, especially the saints. This is best illustrated in our belief that in Adam, all have sinned... [Read More]

Essays on Existential...
I wrote a philosophy paper a week and a half ago, consisting of three essays about existential phenomenology. The essays were on the following:
- The importance of the body and how it allows us to live in the world.
- What freedom is, and why it is more than just having options.
- What intersubjectivity is in relation to existential phenomenology, and a discussion about the three modes of accompaniment.
I just received the paper back on Friday, October 9, and received an A (29/3... [Read More]

Apostles' Creed...
English
I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the Holy Ghost, and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into Hell. On the third day He rose again. He ascended into Heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Cat... [Read More]
